It backs up to the fairway of a golf course and looks out at beautiful... read more mountain ranges with fog in the valleys. You wend your way through the hills on narrow country roads to the tranquil neighborhood. The pool at the nearby clubhouse is gorgeous, and you swim beneath a panorama of montane majesty. Our only "disappointment" was that we didn't see any of the black bears that everyone talks about. We did however spot deer while walking the golf course. Just down Old Tuckaleechee road is a white clapboard Methodist church with family graves whose dates range back to 1792. Across the highway, a paved path runs alongside the river. Historic markers describe ancient Indian settlements and different tree species.

Such a beautiful place to stay! The most breathtaking sunrise over the mountains and was just picturesque. Tons of wildlife as well! We didn’t get to see the bears just... read more because we were out and about when they came by, but we did see deer and wild turkeys. The beds were comfortable, entire place was very clean, and all the essentials were there. The hosts communicated very well and were always available to answer questions. I absolutely would love to stay here again!
